Anyone else catch Terrence Mallick's 2005 movie The New World recently on FilmFour? A beautifully shot, superbly acted film, telling the story of the first settlers to America and their encounters with the natives. Shot with natural light and with references to Dutch landscape painting, with wonderful, dream-like musical interludes featuring the natural soundscape, the film could be a lost classic. Seems I'm not the only one to think so, read
John Patterson's recent piece at the Guardian here.
